Attendance

Regular attendance is required for the student’s educational benefit. See school Attendance Policy for more details.
• Student attendance is checked every day during the homeroom period.
• Sick students should present a medical certificate from a doctor.
• Absence for more than 5 days, without notification, the parents will be called for consultation.
• Pre-acknowledged absences should be dealt with directly with the school administration. The Excused Absence Form should be completed by the parent and submitted to administration.  Homework packets will be available the next day from the school reception and is due on the day the student returns to school.
• NOTE: Students who are absent are responsible for all missed work, including quizzes and tests. Attendance,  Class work and Homework grades are marked as follows: 
        o ABSENT WITHOUT AN EXCUSE, they will receive 0 points for attendance. They will also receive a 0 for all class work ,homework, and quizzes until the material is turned in.
        o ABSENT WITH AN EXCUSE, they will not be penalized for absence. They will receive a 0 for all class work ,homework, and quizzes until the material is turned in.
        o IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION - , they will receive 0 points for attendance. They will receive a 0 for all class work ,homework, and quizzes until the material is turned in.
        o SUSPENSION, then they will receive 0 points for attendance and class work. They will receive an 0 for any homework, quizzes, tests missed until the material is turned in.


Attendance counts 10% of the total grade, so it is extremely important that students attend class as often as possible.

• It is the parents’ responsibility to make sure that the student has done his/ her homework and that the lessons taught during the absence period are covered.
• No student will be allowed to go out of school during school hours except to see a doctor. Parents wishing to travel during school time should keep the student at home that day or delay the travel time till school hours are finished.

Tardiness :

Punctuality is expected of all students.  The parents or the guardian must escort the student arriving late to school and proceed with the student to the administration.
• The school gates close at 7:45 am. Any student arriving after that time will be considered LATE. 3 late arrivals = 1 absent, 5 un-excused absences will result in a lower grade in their core subjects. See school Tardy Policy for more details.
• A Tardy Pass will be given to the students who arrives at school accompanied by their parent.  Students arriving after the gate is closed will not be allowed to enter the school.
• The school Gate will open at 7.30 am to allow students to enter and close at 7.45am. Under no circumstances will students be allowed to enter after this time. Any parent who wishes their child to enter after this time must contact Administration by phone.
• Without the school Tardy Pass, the teacher will not allow the student to enter the classroom and the student will be sent to the American Section’s Administration Office.
• Parents of children who arrive late more than three times will receive a letter of concern and a meeting with the management may be required.
